Choosing the right trading pairs for your prop challenge is more strategic than most traders realise. You want pairs with enough volatility to generate returns, but enough liquidity that your entries and exits are clean.
1. BTC/USDT
Bitcoin against Tether remains the most liquid cryptocurrency pair in the world. The spreads are tight, the volume is deep, and the technical setups are clean. For most prop challenge traders, BTC/USDT should form the core of their trading activity.
2. ETH/USDT
Ethereum is the second most liquid crypto pair and offers slightly higher volatility than Bitcoin. ETH tends to lead alt season moves and can produce significant trending periods that are excellent for swing traders.
3. SOL/USDT
Solana has strong intraday volatility and clear technical structure. It is more aggressive than BTC or ETH in both directions, which suits shorter-term traders who want faster-moving setups.
4. BNB/USDT
Binance Coin trades with reliable technical behaviour due to its exchange utility. BNB/USDT tends to trend more smoothly than speculative altcoins, making it a solid choice for trend-following strategies.
5. XRP/USDT
XRP is one of the more news-sensitive pairs in crypto. During periods of regulatory clarity, XRP can produce extremely large directional moves with clean technical follow-through.
What to Avoid
For prop challenges, avoid very small cap tokens with low liquidity. Wide spreads and thin order books mean your entries are messier and the charts are noisier. Focus on the majors first.
